No.1 was the first house to be built in the Crescent and originally provided luxury accommodation for the aristocratic visitors who came to take the waters and enjoy the social season. A former distinguished resident was the Duke of York, second son of George III.
The Jane Austen Centre
The exhibition at the Jane Austen Centre in Bath has been created with the guidance of local members of the Jane Austen Society and authorities on Jane Austen. It aims to be not only informative but exciting and illuminating. With knowledgeable staff, a lovely period atmosphere, exclusive film, costume, contemporary exhibits, maps and books. It is the perfect starting point to an exploration of Jane Austen's Bath.
Fashion Museum
For centuries Bath has been a centre of fashion, attracting visitors to its spa and social diversions. The Assembly Rooms is one of Bath's finest Georgian buildings and is still central to the city's social life. Very appropriately it also houses the Fashion Museum and its internationally renowned collection of fashionable dress.
Sally Lunn's
The story of Sally Lunn's House starts long before the arrival of Sally Lunn in 1680 - the museum shows the history of Bath's oldest house many hundreds of years before the current timber framed construction - when you visit you will see the Roman and Medieval foundations of the house and finds from excavations. BATH ABBEY
Beautiful Bath Abbey is situated at the heart of the city. Founded in 1499, it stands on the site of an earlier Norman Cathedral and the original Abbey Church built in the 8th century. Visitors enjoy our services, concerts and frequent exhibitions. You are welcome to admire the building, study the Abbey's story of faith, or simply spend time in quiet thought. Don't miss the fully guided Tower Tour: stand on top of the Abbey's famous vaulted ceiling, sit behind the clock face, get close to the Abbey bells and enjoy a bird's eye view of the World Heritage City of Bath.
